The national CLARIN-CH Consortium
The Consortium CLARIN-CH was founded on 18 December 2020 by the universities of Neuchâtel, Bern, Lausanne and Zurich, the Università della Svizzera Italiana, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and the Swiss Academy for Social and Human Sciences to coordinate and support the activities of CLARIN in Switzerland. The University of Basel joined the Consortium in May 2022.
The current members of the CLARIN-CH Consortium are:
✔️ UNIBAS: the University of Basel, represented by the Research and Infrastructure Support (RISE).
✔️ UNIBE: the University of Bern, represented by Prof. Dr. Sandrine Zufferey from the Institute of French Language and Literature.
✔️ UNIL: the University of Lausanne, represented by Prof. Dr. Anita Auer from the English Department. Prof. Dr. Anita Auer is the President of CLARIN-CH Consortium.
✔️ UNINE: the University of Neuchâtel, represented by Prof. Dr. Martin Hilpert from the Institute of English Linguistics.
✔️ USI: the Università della Svizzera italiana, represented by Prof. Dr. Andrea Rocci from the Institute of Argumentation, Linguistics and Semiotics.
✔️ UZH: the University of Zurich, represented by Prof. Dr. Marianne Hundt from the English Department and the Zurich Center for Linguistics. Prof. Dr. Marianne Hundt is the National Coordinator of CLARIN-CH.
✔️ ZHAW: the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, represented by Prof. Dr. Cerstin Mahlow from the Zurich School of Applied Linguistics.
✔️ SAHSS: the Swiss Academy of Human and Social Sciences (l'Académie Suisse des Sciences Humaines et Sociales / die Schweizerische Akademie der Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften) is represented by Dr. Beat Immenhauser, Deputy Secretary General of the SAHSS.
The Consortium agreement stipulates the purpose of the Consortium, its functioning and the members' responsibilities.
Purpose and tasks:
✔️ The Consortium organizes CLARIN-CH in Switzerland.
✔️The Consortium is committed to the participation of Switzerland as an observer or full member of CLARIN ERIC.
✔️The Consortium serves as a forum for the exchange of disciplines and research topics relevant to CLARIN, in particular linguistics and its research infrastructures.
✔️The Consortium supports the activities of CLARIN in Switzerland.
✔️ It maintains the exchange with DARIAH and its national organization in Switzerland.
