SUMMARY:Webinar: Licensing linguistic data for sharing and reuse
DESCRIPTION:We are happy to announce the webinar Licensing linguistic data for sharing and reuse\, which is organised within the CLARIN-CH Working Group Management of Sensitive and Personal data\, Ethical and Legal issues for linguistic data. \n\nThe recording and the slides of the webinar can be accessed here: \n💻 Recording 📄 Slides \nThis talk will explore key aspects of licensing linguistic data for publication\, with a focus on Creative Commons licenses. We will delve into the principles of copyright and their implications for publishing research data\, as well as the benefits and limitations of various licensing options. We will examine how to properly apply a license to linguistic datasets and discuss the significance of doing so for fostering reuse and collaboration. By the end of the session\, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to responsibly share their linguistic data while protecting their intellectual property rights\, and to reuse data respecting the terms of the applied license. \nAfter the 30 minute talk by Stefanie Strebel\, there will be enough time for a Q&A session and further discussion of the topic. \nStefanie Strebel has a background in English Literature but transitioned into the field of Open Research Data after working for an Open Access publisher for three years. In 2019\, she joined the Open Science Services team at the University of Zurich as a data expert and now leads the data sub-team. Her responsibilities include overseeing the development of the Language Repository of Switzerland (LaRS)\, a national repository for the publication of linguistic data. \nThis webinar is part of a series of webinars\, which are taking place monthly during the spring and autumn semester 2024. Discover the list of webinars here.
