Multilingual media discourse is of great importance for fostering democratic dialogue and transnational opinion formation across countries, and comparative discourse researchers make essential contributions to describing and explaining such social phenomena. Nevertheless, for this task, the creation of multilingual open research data and the development of new technological tools is critical.
The MORCDA project, funded through the European OSCARS framework, aims to make Open Research Data suitable for comparative discourse analysis. Precisely, the project bridges gaps between comparative discourse researchers and Open Research Data communities, facilitates the adoption of ORD practices and optimises research infrastructures for enhanced comparative analysis across European languages and contexts.

In order to address these issues and share knowledge about existing initiatives and resources, a new webinar series is launched within the MORCDA project (Making Open Research Data Suitable for Comparative Discourse Analysis).
The first session, “Basics I: Using Open Research Data in Comparative Discourse Analysis”, will take place on May 9, 2025, from 16:00 to 17:30 (CET) via Zoom.
The event is open to the public and no registration is required. To save the event in your calendar, you can go to the event page.
The webinar will feature expert insights from:
- Philipp Dreesen (ZHAW, Switzerland)
- Goranka Rocco (University of Ferrara, Italy)
- Cristina Grisot (CLARIN-CH, Switzerland)
Academics, researchers and the broader public are encouraged to join the discussion and share the invitation, helping to advance the use of open data in shaping a more integrated European discourse.
