Public panel on what AI does and should know

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a part of almost everyone’s life in Switzerland. Whether it’s checking the quickest route to a destination, translating a complicated sentence in a foreign language, or creating a music playlist from scratch. Most people have learned to intuitively interact with machine learning models daily. We have become acquainted with AI, but how well do AI technologies understand the human experience? Systems like ChatGPT coupled with the advanced voice mode show that AI increasingly aims to perceive, interpret, and even simulate human emotions. The way machines process and engage with us has thus recently, critically changed.

On November 12 from 15:30 – 18:00 at UZH center, the Digital Society Initiative (DSI)together with LiRI – will hold a public panel discussion on “What does and what should AI know?”. During the event, experts from academia (UZH and ZHDK) and industry (Google) will talk about:

  • How AI technologies are evolving to ‘know’ or model the human experience.

  • What the current frontiers of human-centered AI are across academia and industry.

  • The ethical, social and autonomy-related implications of these systems.

  • What frameworks are required to ensure AI remains human-centered and responsible.
