The CLARIN-CH Research Data Management Working Group (RDM WG) and the Language Research Data Management Node (L-RDM Node) of the Swiss Research Data Support Network (SRDSN), in collaboration with the LaDaD (Language Data across Disciplines) project, are organising a two-part online workshop dedicated to strengthening both the understanding and the practical writing of Data Management Plans (DMPs) for language data.
This workshop is aimed at researchers and data stewardship professionals working with language data, particularly in the context of SNSF-funded projects.

Part I – Why DMPs Matter from the Start

This session provides a general introduction to DMPs within the framework of SNSF projects, with a focus on the importance of preparing a solid DMP at an early stage of project development.

This hands-on session focuses on concrete guidance for drafting high-quality DMPs tailored to language data.
Topics include:
- Data collection and documentation
- Textual, big, and multimodal language data
- Audio and video data
- Legal and ethical aspects
- Data storage and security
- Data preservation and archiving
- Data sharing and reuse
Expert speakers will be announced by end of May.
The session includes discussion of anonymized DMP examples (illustrating weaker, intermediate, and strong cases) and interactive exchange.
Objectives
The two-part workshop aims to provide:
- A strategic understanding of DMP requirements in SNSF projects
- Practical tools and concrete examples for preparing robust DMPs for language data
Participants may attend one or both sessions.
