Object and Scope
This data protection statement explains how CLARIN-CH collects and processes personal data. CLARIN-CH is hosted by the Zurich Center for Linguistics at the University of Zurich, which serves as the National Coordinating Institution. The CLARIN-CH National Coordination Office is responsible for data protection compliance.
Collection and Processing of Personal Data
Contact Forms
When you use our contact forms:
- We collect: name, email address, and your message content
- Purpose: To respond to your inquiries and correspondence
- Retention period: Until deletion is requested
For our newsletter (managed through MailerLite):
- We collect: name, email address, and affiliation
- Purpose: To send news and updates about CLARIN-CH
- Unsubscribe: Every email includes an unsubscribe link
- Retention period: Until you unsubscribe

Event Registration
For event registrations:
- We collect: name, email address, affiliation, and event-specific information
- Purpose: Event organization and communication
- Retention period: Until deletion is requested
- Note: Specific data protection information will be provided on respective event registration pages
Website Analytics
We use Matomo Analytics to improve our website:
- IP addresses are anonymized
- Retention period: 26 months
You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.
Data Storage and Security
- Form submissions and Matomo analytics data are stored on secure Metanet servers located in Zurich, Switzerland
- Newsletter data is stored by MailerLite according to their privacy policy
- Event registrations are stored by Microsoft according to their privacy statement
- Zoom webinar recordings and related data are stored by Zoom according to their privacy policy
- We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request information about your stored personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your personal data
- Withdraw previous consent
- Object to data processing
- Submit a complaint to the cantonal data protection commissioner
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- MailerLite for newsletter management
- Microsoft Forms for specific event registrations
- Matomo for website analytics
- Zoom for video conferencing / webinars
Each service processes data according to their respective privacy policies and our data processing agreements.
We use only necessary cookies and those required for Matomo Analytics. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.
