A new open-source tool making Machine Translation Evaluation accessible

Funded by a CLARIN Bridging Gaps grant, a team from Ghent University has developed a new tool to enable easy access to machine translation evaluation for both experts and non-experts: MATEO (MAchine Translation Evaluation Online).

With the rapid developments in machine translation in recent years, improved evaluation methods are needed in order to determine which translation system is best for a given dataset, language pair or domain. This need has been adressed with the new open-source tool.

MATEO is hosted by the Instituut voor de Nederlandse Taal, the CLARIN-B centre for Belgium. An online launch event is going to be held on Friday 13/10/2023 at 14.00, in which Dr. Bram Vanroy, the developer of MATEO will present and demonstrate the tool. Registration is necessary.
