Publication Date: 2024-03-19

We are happy to announce the webinar Case study on anonymization of video and audio data, which is organised within the CLARIN-CH Working Group Management of Sensitive and Personal data, Ethical and Legal issues for linguistic data.

Bio: Gerold Schneider is Titulary Professor of Computational Linguistics and co-coordinator of LiRI's service area “Natural Language Processing”. Tilia Ellendorff works as Data Scientist with focus on NLP and Human Language Technology at UZH's Linguistic Research Infrastructure (LiRI).

Abstract: The talk will give an overview of experience gained in over 20 years with the management of sensitive and personal data in the field of spoken language corpora. The first part will recapitulate the basic legal and organisational conditions that apply to the work with spoken language corpora. Based on a number of case studies from the Archive of Spoken German, the second part will then discuss details of legal agreements and technical implementation of data protection issues for specific corpora. This includes a demonstration of technological means for de-identifying sensitive data in audio, video and transcripts.

After the 30 minute talk by Thomas Schmidt, there will be enough time for a Q&A session and further discussion of the topic.

This webinar is part of a series of webinars, which are taking place monthly during spring 2024 and the autumn semester. Discover the list of planned webinars here.
